Around Here

Around here we are gearing up for our last week of Term 3 before two weeks of school holidays.  It's also my birthday week and my birthday tradition is taking a photo of myself and my kids with birthday cupcakes.  I started this tradition when Sienna was born so this year will be my 12th year and is very special to me.  Sienna had her end of season football presentation last week and James will have his this week.  We made our favorite Chicken & Leek pies and used the left over filling to make crepes with the filling the following evening.  I've written about the Chicken & Leek pie recipe over here previously.  Everyone has kitchen gadgets that they think they will use and end up being stored away in the cupboard however the pie maker is great.  It makes 4 pies in 8 minutes and you can put anything in them.  I buy Pampas Puff Pastry and one sheet makes 2 pies.  The pie maker comes with a cutter (imagine scone cutter but bigger) so one side of it makes the cut for the base and the other side makes the top.  So quick and easy.

Chicken & Leek Pies - see recipe link above.

Down time on our first Friday night we didn't have to head out to football.

Afternoon shadows.

Checking something up on Mum's phone.

Caramel popcorn for afternoon tea.

Chicken curry for dinner.

Homework and assignment time.

Dunking biscuits I wrote about in this post.

This is my birthday photo from last year.  I always use a tripod and self timer to take my pic.

  1. We have the pie maker too,We love it.
As I can up a lot of meat (especially chicken) it goes really well thickened with some gravy and poped into the piemaker and presto instant pies.
Great for apple and rhubarb pies too straight from the jars..
We also bought the family sized pie maker as well...brilliant.
    Cheers
    Jane.

  3. Wishing you a very happy birthday, with your two lovely young people. I am just looking at the changes in them since last year - how grown up they look ... Your light and shadows photo is lovely.
